Master plans are generally fluid documents that serve as the foundation on which the development is based on. A good master plan establishes a solid framework for ultimate development, yet it is flexible enough to allow change. Master planning is often a collaborative effort between the owner, developer, architect, civil engineer and other experts.

Proper siting of buildings, roads, parking lots, site amenities, etc. are extremely important to the success of a project, especially when future expansion is anticipated.
